SW80 Master of Social Work
The Master of Social Work provides graduates with an internationally recognised qualification in social work. This innovative course incorporates campus and online learning, intensive block teaching and supervised work-integrated field placements. Students work alongside academics to develop a personal learning plan which fits with other commitments and meets the requirements of the Australian Association of Social Workers.
Entry Requirements
Academic Requirements
A completed recognized Bachelor degree in any discipline. This course is not designed for students who already have a Bachelor Degree (or higher award) in Social Work. However, QUT recognises that not all overseas Social Work qualifications will meet the professional requirements for membership of the Australian Association of Social Workers (AASW) and will consider applications from overseas qualified applicants for this course.
Applicants who are qualified Social Workers in their country of residence should also contact AASW (http://www.aasw.asn.au/) to determine the study they may need to undertake to be eligible for membership in Australia. This assessment may indicate that it will not be necessary for the students to complete the full two years of study and they may be eligible for some advanced standing towards their study.

PU80 Master of Health, Safety and Environment
The Master of Health, Safety and Environment aims to equip individuals with the specialised skills and advanced knowledge required for professional practice or research in occupational health and safety (OHS) and environmental management (EM). Graduates will have the capacity to lead and influence the development of high standards of OHS and EM.

Occupational Health & Safety Study Area
A completed recognised Bachelor degree (or higher) in any discipline.
Environmental Health Study Area
Applicants for the Environment Health major must satisfy the following requirements:
- A completed recognised Bachelor degree (or higher) in any discipline; and
- A minimum of 48 credit points (equivalent of one-semester full time study) of basic science units that were completed at the Bachelor degree level and must include:
- 12 credit points (one subject) of foundation chemistry or recognised foundation chemistry bridging program; and
- 36 credit points in other science areas (e.g. microbiology, physics, anatomy and physiology, life science).
English Requirements
IELTS 6.5, with no sub-band lower than 6.0
Career Outcomes
The course is designed to qualify graduates for Health, Safety and Environment (HSE) positions in a wide range of industries. Position titles include:
- HSE Advisor

- Sustainability Manager
You will gain advanced knowledge and skills to successfully undertake HSE advisory or management roles that encompass OHS and EM, in a wide range of industries and locations.

PU86 Master of Public Health
The Master of Public Health program aims to equip graduates to become leaders in the promotion and protection of the health of populations through developing policy, programs and strategies that take into account the broader determinants of health and illness, and encourage health, equitable and sustainable environments and communities.

Academic
A completed recognised Bachelor degree (or higher) in any discipline.
English Requirements
IELTS 6.5, no sub-band lower than 6.0
Advanced Standing
Applicants with a bachelor degree in a health-related area may be eligible for up to one semester of advanced standing reducing the course duration to 1.5 years.
Career Outcomes
Public health professionals promote population health and wellbeing in service areas such as food safety, disease control, prevention programs, health promotion and environmental health. They could be involved in the development of effective programs that address a number of national and state health priority areas including physical activity, alcohol, tobacco and other drugs, mental health promotion, injury prevention and skin cancer prevention. With experience, public health practitioners can progress into supervisory and managerial positions. Many graduates find employment in the public sector in local, state and federal government health departments (e.g. Queensland Health) and
promotion and public health positions are also available in a variety of professional workplaces, like the police force, local councils and in private industry (e.g. medical insurance companies, corporate health companies and health promotion consultants).

PU84 Master of Health Management
The Master of Health Management program aims to reflect the complex, diverse and challenging nature of health management across the broad scope of health and health service delivery and equip graduates with the professional skills, competencies and attributes to respond to the changing needs of Australian health systems as leading senior managers and executives.

Career Outcomes
Health Service Managers are responsible for the business of health care. Their skills are used to develop strategies to maximise the efficient and effective delivery of health services in a diverse range of health settings. Health services practitioners work as health service or health administration managers or officers, project officers, health insurance workers and human resource managers.
Our graduates have been employed in government health departments, hospitals, public and private divisions of general practice, health insurance agencies, community health centres and universities.

Graduate Diploma programs are available in Health Management, Public Health, Environmental Health, and Occupational Health & Safety.
